Kindness is Contagious!

Altruism/Kindness is Contagious!

Remember in spring 2020, during the initial lockdowns; we used to thank “essential workers” for risking their lives during a scary time?

2 years later, the word “essential” has been removed from our collective vocabulary, and EVERYONE – from the consumers to the employees, is beyond sick of the pandemic.

Here in Los Angeles, we have officially lost over 28,000 lives from Covid. Probably safe to assume that many of those people got sick at WORK. They were once called “essential,” and now they’re gone.

However, I’ve also noticed a reoccurring sentiment found across the occupation-related subreddits that deal with people(service, hospitality, healthcare, etc.) – people are burnt the f*** out. They are sick (literally). They are tired. They feel unappreciated. Everyone is understaffed.

Then there’s the supply chain, which is breaking down further due to staffing shortages. Consumers seem to have reached a breaking point where they’ve forgotten how to empathize and are taking frustrations out on underpaid people who have nothing to do with mask mandates or supply shortages. This got me thinking… How can I show some kindness/gratitude to the people I’ve been seeing consistently over the past two years?

I decided to create a printable thank you note,

and I’ve made it available at the bottom of this page for people to download and use it themselves!

We thought, if we all print out a few pages(2 notes per page), sign and customize them a little(if you want, but not necessary), and hand them to the people we come in contact with during our day – grocery check out people, baristas, servers, delivery drivers, budtenders, pharmacists, etc., maybe we can lift some spirits when it’s needed most!

Studies show that people get more rewards from performing altruistic acts than from receiving gifts. So I’m going to go as far as to say that this is a true win/win for all. Be the bright spot in someone’s day. WE ALL BENEFIT FROM KIND ACTS❤️

Let us know how it goes when you do it!! I’ll share as well! Stay tuned
